Dorsey - Thomas Painting

We had a number of painters provide us estimates to paint our house. Because we own a historic 1917 Craftsman Bungalow it was important for us to have a painter familiar with the delicacy of old houses. Thomas made us feel comfortable and seemed to have the experience with historic houses we were looking for. The crew was polite and did a superb job with our house – pressure washing, scraping, sanding, and window re-glazing. We only had one minor incident when a window pane was cracked during the re-glazing, which was immediately fixed by the crew. When we wanted to replace some old roof shingles used as siding on a gable Thomas had a carpenter perform this work for us while the rest of the crew was finishing the prep-work. The more labor intense prep-work spanned over approximately 2 weeks, and the priming and painting of the house was done in a few days. The crew was so good with the detail work that no blue tape or window scraping was even required! Additionally, Thomas was spot on with the estimate of gallons of paint required to finish the job. We are very happy with the work and are constantly told by neighbors and friends how nice our house looks.

Dorsey recently painted the exterior of our 100 year old home in Midtown. They took care to be sure they consulted experts re: issues with some problem areas of our home and consequently their quote/estimated cost was extremely detailed and clear. They were reliably "on-time" each day as well as with the completed project. The crew that did the actual painting was quiet, polite, and professional. Thomas came by each day to check with me and his crew. No complaints from anyone when I changed my mind about a color or two. We have no doubt Dorsey stands behind their work and may be more "particular" than most homeowners about wanting every little detail done perfectly! We have a great deal of experience with contractors and this experience w/ Dorsey was the best by far.

Dorsey Finishes just complete an exterior and interior painting of my 90 yr old house and I was very pleased with the outcome. The exterior work was limited to painting and replacing some rotten wood but the real work occurred inside the house. Over the years cracked plaster and peeling paint had caused a nightmare finish on the interior walls. Prior to painting the interior, Dorsey used a plaster resoration product that created a surface similar to the original plaster finish that will both prevent cracks for coming back but also keep moisture out and keep the paint from peeling from the new finished surface. I would highly recommend Dorsey Finishes to any old home owner. They are reasonably priced, but the customer service level is fantastic. I would also recommend Thomas to be your choice for project manager.

As a die-hard DIY-er, this was my first time to hire a contractor to do something I typically find easy to do - paint a room. However, this room had gnarly popcorn ceilings that must be sprayed rather than rolled, a staircase, and a 16' wall height. And who hasn't heard horror stories about painters?

Cutting to the chase: Dorsey Finishes quoted a fair price for the job and provided stellar quality work in a reasonable time frame. The company owners were frequently on-site to check on things, and the crews were courteous, efficient and cleaned up behind themselves well. They quoted me a fair price for an add-on "while you're here" job as well. I would gladly hire them again and recommend them without reservation.

A co-worker (and a friend of one of the owners) recommended Dorsey Finishes to paint the interior of my home. I've been in the home for 6 years and still had builders paint on walls and some minor cracks. Tom from Dorsey Finishes came to my home did a thorough assessment and give me an estimate. The company has different crews, I chose the crew that could also work on a Saturday.
Their work was outstanding!!!! My 6yr old house looks brand new!!! All work was done professionally with tremendous attention to detail! They meticulously patched up all minor cracks, sanded and painted. The crew was prompt, friendly, and took great care in the clean up process when the work was completed. The crew worked so efficiently, they finished the project a day ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend Dorsey Finishes!!!!!!!!!

We hired Dorsey Finishes to paint our aluminum siding. I had several previous estimates, and Tom at Dorsey was the most professional, and he seemed to care the most. His crew was very professional, showed up on time, and were very diligent about the work. It came out looking wonderful. Time will tell how the paint job will hold up, but initially, I give them 5 stars. Don't hesitate to call them.

We selected Dorsey Finishes, Inc. to paint the exterior of our home, based upon a high recommendation by neighbors. Dorsey Finishes met all of our expectations. This Company is extremely professional, reasonable in price, very timely, and does an outstanding job. Our home looks great. The painters are top-notch.
